More help with your job search at the Library

Posted by gloucestercitylibrary on May 29, 2009

With the help of Ebsco and the New Jersey State Library, we now offer free access to Ebsco’s Career Library. The website covers career planning and research, college information, financial aid, and test preparation. Watch videos about occupations, and use self-quizzes to uncover your career preferences and current skills. Some materials available in Spanish. Enter your library card barcode number to log in.

Beginning June 4, the Gloucester City Library will offer assistance with online applications for unemployment benefits. “Many people are getting a busy signal when they try to apply by phone for their unemployment checks and many people aren’t familiar enough with computers to apply online. That’s where the library steps in. Our librarians will guide applicants through the maze of forms and the process will be completed electronically,” says library Director Elizabeth Egan. Librarians Erica Cathers, Deena Worrell, and Christie Peterson, all trained in the intricacies of the online system, will hold regularly scheduled, personalized “lessons”. Gloucester residents (non-residents cannot be accommodated) are urged to call the library at 456-4181 to sign up. The library also offers help with online job searching and general computer education.
